CARBC STATE REPRESENTATIVE REPORT

January 2012
State Rep Report

from Ron and Sally Schrock

Happy New Year to each one of you!
We appreciate your faithful support of
the CARBC. We are beginning our fifth year as your State Representatives in troubling political and economic times. The turmoil in our country and throughout the world makes it even more imperative that we stand together as believers in Christ and churches committed to the Word of God.

Reflecting back on 2011, we see it was indeed the year of pulpit committee meetings. A priority in 2012 is to find godly, committed pastors for all of our churches. Please pray for these nine churches:

Lighthouse Baptist in Brentwood
Westwood Baptist in Fresno (Sam Farlow is serving as interim.)
Calvary Baptist in Hesperia (Tom Ratcliff would like to retire.)
Placerita Baptist in Newhall
First Baptist in Pinole (Charles Baker is retiring in April.)
Grace Community in San Jose (a Filipino congregation)
Faith Baptist in Strathmore (They have been without a pastor for over a year.)
Walnut Creek Baptist (David Miller had to resign due to health issues.)
Grace Baptist in Yuba City (Mel Beals is serving as interim.)

We were blessed to spend December 4th in Yuba City, the 11th in Gridley, and the 18th in Brentwood for the morning service and the evening in Walnut Creek for a Christmas Dinner with several area churches. We also attended three pastors’ Christmas fellowships, in the Los Angeles area, Yuba City, and Newark.

We hope you enjoyed the recently upgraded Messenger, professionally printed by Regular Baptist Press. Chips Ross, Editor of the Newsletter, spent a lot of time working with RBP on this project and we were thrilled with the result. If you don’t receive the bi-monthly Messenger, e-mail Chips Ross (chippychoppy@juno.com) to activate your subscription.

In this electronic age, we would still prefer to send our letter and your receipt through the mail but good stewardship compels us to ask if we can use e-mail for those churches and individuals who have internet access. If you are willing to receive correspondence by e-mail, please let us know by e-mail or phone.

No matter how our letter comes, you can be sure we are praying for you. Your faithfulness inspires us to keep traveling and your prayers sustain us wherever we are. We pray that God will bless you abundantly in the coming year and that 2012 will be the year Jesus takes us home.

God bless!

February 2012
State Rep Report

from Ron and Sally Schrock

Although the official program of the CARBC
Christian Workers’ Retreat began with dinner
on Monday evening, hotels started to fill up
Sunday afternoon, January 15th, as seventy-plus CARBC pastors and dedicated Christian workers from all over California descended on the coastal town of Cambria for three days of fellowship laced with dramatic Scripture recitation, reports, messages, and prayer.

We were awed as Jason Nightingale, in his booming John the Baptist voice, quoted the book of I John to the group assembled at First Baptist Church. Jason and Sharon also shared their ministry of establishing orphanages for unattached children and providing financial aid to widows in Liberia, Kenya, India, and Haiti. You can learn more about Wordsower Ministries from their website, wordsower.org.

This year the music was led by Chris and Jennifer Law, and we heard reports from missionaries and ministries across the state. Inspired by the many giant sized obstacles our CARBC pastors and churches are facing at this time, I spoke on “Our Goliaths,” a challenge to keep going in tough circumstances. It was a special joy to have several babies and toddlers playing in the nursery; a sure sign of growth in the CARBC.

A Baptist gathering would not be complete without food and the 2012 crowd ate sumptuously in the beautiful fellowship hall of the church. Putting on an event of this magnitude is a labor of love so applause and thanks were given to Pastor Chris Law, the folks at First Baptist, and to Council Chairman, Kiyle Decker, for their hard work.

After spending New Years’ Day with friends, Ron hit the road and traveled to Good Shepherd Baptist in Anaheim (Pastor Jofri and Michelle Frigillana). Before the Retreat we were at Carpinteria Valley Baptist (Pastor Steve and Kathy Button), and spoke at Bethany Baptist in Martinez and Sunrise Valley in San Jose after the Retreat.

Quite a few churches requested their letter and receipt by e-mail and we appreciate it!  As the cost of printing and mailing continues to rise, good stewardship compels us to use e-mail for those churches and individuals who have internet access. Please let us know your preferred e-mail address with your next gift.

We are praying for you. Your faithfulness inspires us to keep traveling and your prayers sustain us wherever we are. We are asking God to bless you abundantly until Jesus comes.
